Lorien Foote

Lorien Foote is the Patricia & Bookman Peters Professor in History at Texas A&M University, specializing in the Civil War, Reconstruction, 19th Century America, and War and Society.[1][2] She is the author of four books, including The Yankee Plague: Escaped Union Prisoners and the Collapse of the Confederacy and Rites of Retaliation: Civilization, Soldiers, and Campaigns in the American Civil War, which won the Organization of American Historians Civil War and Reconstruction Book Award.[3][5] She is also the creator and principal investigator of the Digital Humanities Project 'Fugitive Federals,' which visualizes the escape and movement of 3,000 Federal prisoners of war during the American Civil War.[1]
