Jack Mahon

Jack Mahon (1933–2005) was an Irish Gaelic footballer from Dunmore, Galway, who played at senior level for the Galway county team from 1951 to 1961, winning an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medal in 1956, a National League medal in 1957 as captain, and six Connacht championships.[2] After retiring, he served in GAA administration as Galway Football Board chairman in the 1980s, P.R.O., and later as honorary President of the County GAA Board.[2] Mahon was also a prolific writer and sports historian, authoring 19 books on Gaelic football and sport, including 'A History of Gaelic Football' and 'Only the Teachers Grow Old'.[1][2][3][4]
