Harper Lee

Nelle Harper Lee (1926–2016) was an American novelist best known for her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel To Kill a Mockingbird (1960), a classic exploring racial injustice and moral growth in the American South. She assisted childhood friend Truman Capote with research for In Cold Blood (1966) and published a second novel, Go Set a Watchman, in 2015. Born and raised in Monroeville, Alabama, she moved to New York City in 1949 to pursue writing after working various jobs and studying law.[1][2][6]
