G. A. R. Wood
Garfield Arthur 'Gar' Wood was an American inventor, entrepreneur, and championship motorboat builder and racer who held the world water speed record on several occasions and was the first man to travel over 100 miles per hour on water. He was also credited with devising the small, swift PT (patrol torpedo) boats for the U.S. Navy during World War II.
