F. Javier Alvarez-Leefmans MD, PhD

F. Javier Alvarez-Leefmans is a physician-scientist and professor of neuroscience and biophysics at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. He is internationally known for his research on the cellular mechanisms of volume regulation, including the role of taurine and ion transporters. His work has advanced understanding of how neurons and other cells maintain their volume under osmotic stress.
