David Phillips

David Graham Phillips (1867–1911) was an American novelist and pioneering 'muckraker' journalist known for his investigative exposés on Senate corruption, particularly his work 'The Treason of the Senate,' which influenced the passage of the Seventeenth Amendment. He also wrote socially critical fiction such as 'Susan Lenox: Her Rise and Fall,' blending themes of social Darwinism and the impacts of unregulated capitalism, before being murdered in 1911.
