Beatrix Potter
Beatrix Potter (Helen Beatrix Potter) was an English author, illustrator, natural scientist, and conservationist best known for her children's books featuring anthropomorphic animals, such as The Tale of Peter Rabbit, which she self-published before achieving commercial success in 1902. Born into a wealthy family in London, she developed a passion for nature and sketching during childhood holidays in the Lake District, later purchasing property there, marrying William Heelis in 1913, and becoming a dedicated landowner and conservationist. She authored 23 books that have sold over 250 million copies and pioneered character merchandising with Peter Rabbit toys.
