Artificial Intelligence (AI) is evolving at an exponential rate and maintaining currency with the technology is important, but its impact to human society is a more important concern. It is imperative that this developing form of intelligence be constructed with controls that allow it to be tailored to the various ethical perspectives of humanity. Conversely, since AI is an evolving form of intelligence, humanity must also consider its ethical responsibility to this new form of intelligence. The strategy of this colloquy is to first provide a primer on the path of Artificial Intelligence (AI) development to help orient the reader to the technology and help frame it socially. After the background of AI is delivered, a colloquial between two entities is presented to provide their perspectives on topics related to AI. The participants discuss a few of the many ethical topics that intelligence officers will face when using AI to assist in the collection and analysis of information. The premise the author presents, for this AI-related philosophical topic is:As AI must respect and adhere to human ethics, so should humanity honor AI's ethics as it evolves. This is not as much for fairness as it is to preserve what humanity is creating and protect ourselves from it. Since humanity is creating and evolving AI technology we should recognize early on the non-technological importance of AI to society and work to understand the moral philosophies unique to AI. If we do not appreciate its philosophical uniqueness not only do we risk damaging our creation but seeding immorality into a cognitive entity that we will become reliant upon since we are building it to assist us.
