Please note: this book has been recently corrected and edited. Jacob Macalister has been dumped by Alison, thrown out like a used paper cup. Now he is heading back to college with a bruised heart, trying to figure out a way to help himself and other guys figure out the world of romance. Perhaps the attributes of a girl can be reduced to a set of numbers. Because Jacob is good at numbers, perhaps he can help other guys to estimate their chances of getting a date with a certain girl. Jacob's challenge is to "guard his heart" as the Bible says, and manage to pay his college tuition. Whether having adventures at Brewster's Brew, the Squircle, or the Space Needle, Jacob must manoeuvre through dangerous territory and enjoy a few laughs along the way. Excerpt She interrupted, "I know who you are. You are that love evaluator guy. Did you come to evaluate me?" "No, I came to dump you," he blurted out. That was classy, he told himself. Master of suave, that was him all right. "Wait a minute," she interrupted. "Aren't we supposed to be going together for at least a little while before you can dump me?" "No!" he exclaimed. "It isn't me who is dumping you; it's Billy Radcliff who is dumping you. He thinks you are a really nice person but he wants to date other girls." "Hmm," she said. "Billy Radcliff, isn't he that curly headed kid with the thick glasses and a gravelly voice?" "Yes," responded Jacob. Billy's voice was somewhat gravelly, as Jacob recalled. Though this is the first time he noticed it. He heard that some girls were voice people; they couldn't stand some guy with an unpleasant voice. "I think I had a cup of coffee with him at Starbucks. So, now he is dumping me? He hired you to dump me after one cup of coffee? You know, this school has a lot of strange boys." Jacob had to admit that this was strange. He was expecting tears or a karate chop, not a philosophical discourse on the strangeness of boys on this campus. "OK, Jacob Macalister, consider me dumped. This is kind of cool. Now I can tell all my friends I got dumped and that a guy hired Jacob Macalister to dump me, so that they will all sympathize with me. Girls are very sympathetic to other girls who get dumped. Anyway, I have to go. I have a date with Phil Greenwood. Nice meeting you, Mr. Dumping man." She smiled, got up and walked away. Jacob walked home thinking that he really was in the right business. The boys at this school really need help.
