Stegosaurus and Other Plains Dinosaurs (Dinosaur Find)

Reviewed with Dougal Dixon's Stegosaurus and Other Plains Dinosaurs.K-Gr. 2. These titles in the Dinosaur Find series don't offer much in terms of report material even though the format resembles a simple encyclopedia. Each volume focuses on different areas where dinosaurs once lived, giving brief information on a selection of individual animals. The illustrations are an odd mix of drawings, photographs, and digital images, and each spread includes pronunciation guides, a size comparison to humans, and a note about animals of today in which the dinosaur's characteristics can be seen. Also included are a glossary, suggestions for further reading, and a Web link leading to more on dinosaurs. These books will have to be read aloud to most young dino fans, but there's enough of interest to keep their attention.
