Dougal Dixon
Dougal Dixon is a Scottish geologist, paleontologist, author, and artist born in 1947 in Dumfries, Scotland, who graduated with degrees in geology from the University of St Andrews and became a full-time writer specializing in earth sciences and speculative biology.[1][3][7] He is renowned as the founder of speculative zoology, with seminal works like *After Man* (1981), *The New Dinosaurs* (1988), and *The Future is Wild* (2002) that imagine future evolutions and alternative histories of life.[2][6] Dixon has authored over 20 books on dinosaurs, prehistoric life, and speculative evolution, earning awards such as a Hugo nomination and various science book prizes.[4]
