Grade 3-5-Weather includes a demonstration of the greenhouse effect, the power of the wind, and how clouds are made; the construction of an anemometer, a barometer, and a thermometer; and directions for measuring rainfall and keeping a weather notebook. Physical Science looks at how to make sound waves, sound vibration through a membrane, the color of light, friction, magnetism, and gravity. The experiments are all written in a smaller font than the informational texts and consist of a materials list and a four-step plan. Mick Manning and Brita Granström's Science School (Kingfisher, 1998) is for slightly older children. These books are appropriate additions for elementary and public libraries.–Ann Joslin, Fort LeBoef School District, Waterford, PA Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc.
