Experiments on the Weather (Do-It-Yorself Science)

Grade 3-5-Weather includes a demonstration of the greenhouse effect, the power of the wind, and how clouds are made; the construction of an anemometer, a barometer, and a thermometer; and directions for measuring rainfall and keeping a weather notebook. Physical Science looks at how to make sound waves, sound vibration through a membrane, the color of light, friction, magnetism, and gravity. The experiments are all written in a smaller font than the informational texts and consist of a materials list and a four-step plan. Mick Manning and Brita Granström's Science School (Kingfisher, 1998) is for slightly older children.
