Shakira: Star Singer (Hispanic Headliners)

In this entry in the Hispanic Headliners series, the focus is on singer Shakira’s ties to her homeland, Colombia. In a brief 24 pages and featuring a compact format, the book introduces Shakira as a “Latin-American superstar.” Though born in Colombia of a Colombian mother, her father is from a Lebanese family, and that heritage plays into her music as well. After first gaining stardom in South America, Shakira gained worldwide fans with an English album released in 2001.
