From School Library Journal PreSchool-Grade 1-A rhyming counting book that follows a group of brightly clothed bunnies frolicking on a playground on an idyllic spring day. Flowers are blooming; the sun is shining; the grass is green; and sweet little rabbits slide, swing, jump rope, play ball, dig in sand, etc. Each two-page spread adds another animal until there are 10. The numbers are written as addition equations (3+3=6, 4+2=6, 5+1=6) as well as single numerals. While young children will not be able to solve the problems, they will see that numbers can be depicted in different ways. Another clever feature is the all-natural playground equipment: the slide is half of a hollow log and the jungle gym is made of trees and logs. Along with the rabbits, each page features other objects to count. A useful list at the back facilitates finding all of the items. Soft-toned colored pencils on watercolor illustrations sustain the mood of idealized childhood.
