From School Library Journal Grade 5-8-Allison, 14, idolizes her brother Stephen, a senior in high school, editor of the school newspaper, straight A student, star of the basketball team, and more. She admits to herself that his multiple talents sometimes make her jealous, but she can't hold it against him because they have such a good relationship. Allison's first-person narrative flows easily through milestones and mundane happenings, until tragedy strikes. The basketball coach collapses during pre-game warm-ups, and Stephen is unable to revive him with his newly learned CPR skills. The young man is devastated, and it becomes Allison's turn to help her brother. In the process, she discovers some of her own strengths. Hurwitz creates believable, likable characters. Even Stephen tells of responsibility, family, friendship, and, most of all, shows that everyone is special in some way.
