Fifteen-year-old Cass and her younger brother Wilbur live as Scavs—short for scavengers—in post-Apocalyptic London. They spend their days rummaging through rubble searching for a powerful relic that their Russian masters, who took over London after the bio-wars 100 years ago, believe is hidden there. When romantic Wilbur wanders off in search of the artifact alone following clues he believes his comic books provide Cass goes in search of him. She finds him at Big Ben where both children then encounter Erin and Peyto, two children from another galaxy. They, too, are hunting for the missing artifact, known to them as a flinder, and must find it within six days otherwise their world will come crashing down.
