Zoltán Dörnyei

Zoltán Dörnyei (1960–2022) was a Hungarian-born British linguist and professor of psycholinguistics at the University of Nottingham, renowned for his groundbreaking work on second language acquisition, language-learning motivation, and the psychology of the language learner. He published over 100 academic papers and more than 20 books on topics including motivation, group dynamics, and research methodology in second language learning. His research significantly advanced the fields of psycholinguistics and applied linguistics.
