Zane Grey

Zane Grey (born Pearl Grey) was an American author best known for his romantic novels of the American West, which helped establish the Western genre, with his 1912 bestseller Riders of the Purple Sage being the most popular.[2][3] Trained as a dentist, he practiced in New York before dedicating himself to writing over 80 books, many adapted into films, and pursuing passions like big-game fishing and baseball.[2][4] He died in 1939 at age 67 after a prolific career that included adventure stories idealizing the frontier.[1][2]
