Yusuf Shahin

Youssef Chahine, also known as Yusuf Shahin, was a prominent Egyptian filmmaker, producer, actor, and screenwriter born in Alexandria to a Christian family of Lebanese origin. He began his career in 1948 after studying acting in the U.S., debuting with Baba Amin in 1950 and gaining international acclaim with Cairo Station in 1958, while his films often addressed deep social issues and sparked controversy. Chahine won awards including the Silver Bear at Berlin for Alexandria... Why? (1979) and continued directing until his death, introducing Egyptian cinema to global audiences.[1][2][3]
