Yitzhak Katznelson

Itzhak Katzenelson (1886–1944) was a Polish Jewish poet, dramatist, and teacher who wrote in Yiddish and Hebrew. He founded the Habima Halvrit theater and a Hebrew school in Lodz, and is best known for his epic poem 'Song of the Murdered Jewish People,' written in the Vittel internment camp. He was deported to Auschwitz and murdered there in 1944.
