Wolf Leslau
Wolf Leslau was a renowned scholar of Semitic languages and one of the foremost authorities on the Semitic languages of Ethiopia, having published over 40 books and mastered 72 languages. Born in Krzepice, Poland, he was educated at the University of Vienna and the Sorbonne, later immigrating to the United States in 1942 and joining the faculty of UCLA in 1955. He died at age 100 in Fullerton, California, leaving behind a legacy as a leading expert on Ethiopian languages and culture.
