Wishing Well
Edward Frederic Benson (1867-1940) was an English novelist, biographer, memoirist, archaeologist, and short story writer. He is probably best known for his six Mapp and Lucia books, but produced a large body of versatile work including several biographies and ghost stories. H. P. Lovecraft was impressed enough by Benson's work to mention him in his essay 'Supernatural Horror in Literature.'
