Winand M. Callewaert

Winand M. Callewaert is a Belgian Indologist and emeritus professor of Sanskrit at KU Leuven, specializing in Hindi, Hinduism, Indian languages, and bhakti literature from the 16th and 17th centuries. He studied at Indian universities starting in 1965, lived in India as a young missionary, and later pursued studies in Leuven and at the Sorbonne after leaving the Jesuit path. He has edited works like 'The Hindi Biography of Dadu Dayal' and donated over 14,000 digitized manuscript photos to Heidelberg University Library.
