William Wordsworth
William Wordsworth (1770–1850) was an English Romantic poet who, alongside Samuel Taylor Coleridge, co-authored Lyrical Ballads (1798), a seminal work that launched the Romantic Age in English literature. Born in Cockermouth, Cumbria, he drew inspiration from nature, his sister Dorothy, and the Lake District, producing iconic poems like 'I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud' and 'Tintern Abbey.' He served as Poet Laureate from 1843 until his death.
