William S. Allison

William S. Allison '57 was a chemist who earned his bachelor's from Dartmouth College in 1957, a master's in chemistry from Dartmouth in 1959, and a Ph.D. from Brandeis University in 1963. He served as an assistant professor at Brandeis before becoming a professor of chemistry at the University of California, San Diego in 1969, where he worked until his retirement in 2003 and gained international renown for his expertise in bioenergetics, particularly the molecular mechanisms producing adenosine triphosphate.[1]
