William P. McGivern
William P. McGivern (1918–1982) was an American novelist and television scriptwriter renowned for his crime fiction, mysteries, and thrillers, publishing over 20 novels including 'The Big Heat' and 'Rogue Cop,' as well as more than 100 science-fiction short stories under the pseudonym Bill Peters. His work, distinguished by complex characterizations, psychological depth, and explorations of moral dilemmas, earned him the Edgar Allan Poe Award and the presidency of the Mystery Writers of America. He also wrote screenplays and scripts for television series like 'Kojak.'
