William Muir Sir

Sir William Muir (1819–1905) was a Scottish Orientalist, colonial administrator in British India, and later Principal of the University of Edinburgh. He is best known for his writings on Islamic history, including his multi-volume biography of Muhammad, and for his administrative work in the North-West Provinces of India.
