William Marvel
William Marvel is an American historian, journalist, and writer born in Norfolk, Virginia, on August 14, 1949. He is known for books on the Civil War, including works on Appomattox, Andersonville Prison, and the naval battle between the Alabama and the Kearsarge, as well as a biography of General Ambrose Burnside. He has lived in South Conway, New Hampshire, and has written about nineteenth-century American history for decades.
