William Hope Hodgson
William Hope Hodgson (1877-1918) was an English author renowned for his pioneering horror and science fiction works, including novels like The Boats of the 'Glen Carrig' (1907), The House on the Borderland (1908), The Ghost Pirates (1909), and The Night Land (1912), as well as sea horror tales such as 'The Voice in the Night.' A former merchant seaman, bodybuilder, and photographer, he drew authentic detail from his maritime experiences and served in World War I, where he was killed in action near Ypres, France.
