William D. Edson

William 'Bill' D. Edson was a railroad historian, author, and charter member of the New York Central System Historical Society, known for works such as 'Railroad Names,' 'Steam Locomotives of the New York Central Volume II,' and articles on lines like the Clinchfield Railroad and Fitchburg locomotives. A native of Newton, Massachusetts, he graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and conducted postgraduate work in railroad mechanical engineering. He passed away due to complications from a fall, having suffered from Parkinson's disease and failing eyesight.
