William Cullen Bryant
William Cullen Bryant was an American poet, journalist, and long-time editor of the New York Evening Post, remembered especially for his early poem "Thanatopsis." He was a major figure in 19th-century American letters and also used his journalism to support causes such as abolition, labor rights, and immigrant rights.
