William Coutts Keppel Albemarle

William Coutts Keppel, 7th Earl of Albemarle (1832-1894), was a British soldier, politician, and author who served as a Liberal and later Conservative MP, holding positions such as Treasurer of the Household and Under-Secretary of State for War. He authored works including the history 'Exodus of the Western Nations' (1865) on American colonization, 'A Report on the Condition of the Indians of British North America,' and co-authored the 'Cycling' volume of the Badminton Library (1887). Succeeding to the earldom in 1891, he was known for his military service and political career spanning multiple administrations.
