William A. Calder III
William Musgrave Calder III (1932–2022) was a distinguished American classicist and professor of Classics. He earned his B.A. magna cum laude from Harvard in 1954, M.A. from Harvard in 1956, and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1958, advancing to full professor at Columbia, the University of Colorado at Boulder (1976–1988), and the William Abbott Oldfather Professor of Classics and Comparative Literature at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1988–2012).[1][2]
