Werner Ballmann

Hans Werner Ballmann, known as Werner Ballmann, is a German mathematician born on April 11, 1951, in Hillesheim, specializing in differential geometry and global analysis[1][2]. He earned his doctorate from the University of Bonn in 1979 and served as a professor there and as director of the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics from 2007 to 2019[2][3]. His research focuses on geodesic flows, spaces of negative curvature, and the spectral theory of Dirac operators[2][5].
