Warner
Susan Warner, also known by her pseudonym Elizabeth Wetherell, was an American author best known for her bestselling novel 'The Wide, Wide World' published in 1850, which featured worthy adolescent heroines and religious themes set in rural New England. Born into a prosperous New York family, financial hardship after the Panic of 1837 led her to write to support her family, though later works did not match the success of her debut. She died in 1885, leaving a legacy in domestic novels and influencing later female writers.[1][5]
