Walker Thomas

Thomas Walker (1784–1836) was an English barrister, police magistrate, and author, son of the radical Manchester cotton merchant Thomas Walker. He studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, was called to the bar in 1812, and served as a police magistrate at Lambeth Street court from 1829. Walker wrote on pauperism and parochial reform from a Malthusian perspective and published the one-man weekly periodical The Original from 1835 to 1836, featuring essays on social, health, and gastronomic topics.
