W H 1792-1850 Maxwell
William Hamilton Maxwell (1792–1850) was an Irish novelist, historian, and clergyman born in Newry, County Down, son of merchant James Maxwell. He is known for pioneering rollicking military fiction with works like O'Hara (1825) and Stories of Waterloo (1829), as well as histories such as the Life of the Duke of Wellington (1839–1841) and History of the Irish Rebellion of 1798 (1845).[1][2]
