Vladimir Torchilin

Vladimir Petrovich Torchilin, born in Moscow in 1946, is a Soviet-born American biochemist, pharmacologist, and nanotechnology expert who earned his MS, PhD, and DSc from Moscow State University and immigrated to the US in 1990. He joined Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in 1991, then Northeastern University in 1998, where he serves as University Distinguished Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Director of the Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Nanomedicine. Renowned for his work in drug delivery, liposomes, and nanocarriers, he has published over 450 papers, edited 15 books, holds more than 40 patents, and received awards including the 1982 Lenin Prize.
