Virginia R. Beavert

Virginia R. Beavert (November 30, 1921 – February 8, 2024), also known as Tuxámshish, was a Yakama Nation elder, Native scholar, author, educator, and linguist. She devoted much of her life to preserving and teaching Ichishkíin (Sahaptin), the traditional language of the Yakama Nation, and was widely respected for her work in Native language and cultural revitalization.
