Virginia Ellyn Melnyk

Virginia Ellyn Melnyk is a computational architectural designer and researcher specializing in textiles, knitting, lightweight structures, and deployable architecture.[1][2][4] She holds a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Buffalo and a master's from the University of Pennsylvania, and is pursuing a PhD in the DigitalFUTURES program at Tongji University while serving as an Assistant Professor of Architecture at Iowa State University.[4][5][6] Her work explores soft architectural systems, material craft, tactility, and the integration of traditional techniques with computational methods, with presentations in cities like Buffalo, Toronto, and Boston.[5][6]
