Vincent J. Cannato

Vincent J. Cannato is an American historian and associate professor of history at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where he teaches twentieth-century American, urban, and immigration history. He is the author of works including *American Passage: The History of Ellis Island* and *The Ungovernable City: John Lindsay and His Struggle to Save New York*, and has written for major publications such as *The New York Times* and *The Washington Post*.
