Villy Christensen
Villy Christensen is a Danish-born professor at the University of British Columbia's Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries, specializing in ecosystem modeling and fisheries research. He grew up in Skagen, Denmark's largest fishing town at the time, earned his Ph.D. in Ecosystem Modelling from the University of Copenhagen in 1992, and joined UBC as faculty in 2004. Best known as the principal architect and core developer of the Ecopath software system, he was awarded the FRSC designation and the American Fisheries Society Award of Excellence in 2020.
