Varro E Tyler
Varro E. Tyler (1926–2001) was an American pharmacognosist and leading authority on herbal medicine, best known for authoring influential books such as *The Honest Herbal*, *Herbs of Choice*, and editions of the textbook *Pharmacognosy*. He earned his B.S. in pharmacy from the University of Nebraska in 1949, followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut in pharmacognosy. Tyler served as dean of the School of Pharmacy at Purdue University, later becoming executive vice president for academic affairs, and published over 280 scientific papers during his distinguished career.
