Valerie Bauerlein

Valerie Bauerlein is a national reporter for The Wall Street Journal, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, who covers small-town America, Southern politics, economics, and culture.[1][2][4][5] A Duke University graduate (class of 1993), she extensively reported on the Alex Murdaugh murder case and trial, attending every day of the proceedings and accompanying the jury to the crime scene.[1] Her deep dive into the Murdaugh family history resulted in the bestselling book 'The Devil at His Elbow: Alex Murdaugh and the Fall of a Southern Dynasty,' published by Ballantine.[1][2]
