Vaclav Smil
Vaclav Smil is a Czech-Canadian scientist and policy analyst born on December 9, 1943, in Plzeň, Bohemia, who serves as a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. He is an interdisciplinary researcher specializing in energy, environmental change, food production, and public policy, having published 49 books and over 500 papers by November 2024. Smil is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a Member of the Order of Canada.
