V. Y. Mudimbe

V. Y. Mudimbe (Valentin-Yves Mudimbe) was a pioneering Congolese philosopher, novelist, poet, and literary critic who challenged Western intellectual frameworks used to evaluate Africa. Born in the Belgian Congo, he later became an emeritus professor of literature at Duke University and is renowned for his foundational work 'The Invention of Africa.' His scholarship significantly influenced postcolonial studies and African thought globally.
