University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate
The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES), branded as Cambridge Assessment, was established in 1858 as a non-teaching department of the University of Cambridge to administer public examinations for non-members and inspect schools to raise educational standards.[1][3] It provided assessments through entities like Cambridge OCR, Cambridge International Education, and Cambridge English.[1] In August 2021, it merged with Cambridge University Press to form Cambridge University Press and Assessment.[1]
