University Mark Aronoff
Mark Aronoff is a Canadian-American morphologist and Trustees Distinguished Professor of Linguistics at Stony Brook University, where he has taught since receiving his Ph.D. from MIT in 1974. Born and raised in Québec, Canada, he graduated from McGill University in 1969 with a B.A. in Linguistics and has held prominent roles such as editor of Language (1995-2001) and president of the Linguistic Society of America (2005). His research spans morphology and its relations to phonology, syntax, semantics, psycholinguistics, writing systems, and sign language; he is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
