Toon Tellegen

Toon Tellegen, born Antonius Otto Hermannus Tellegen, is a renowned Dutch writer, poet, and former general practitioner best known for his poetic, philosophical animal stories featuring characters like Squirrel and Ant. He studied medicine at the University of Utrecht, practiced in Amsterdam, and began his writing career as a poet before gaining fame with children's books in 1984. His extensive oeuvre includes poetry, prose for adults, fairytales, and plays, earning him prestigious awards like the Theo Thijssen Prize and Constantijn Huygens Prize.
