Tommy Caldwell
Tommy Caldwell is an acclaimed American rock climber renowned for pioneering some of the hardest routes in the U.S., including the first ascent of Flex Luthor (5.15a) in 2003 and the first free ascent of The Dawn Wall on El Capitan with Kevin Jorgeson in 2015 after 19 days. He survived a harrowing 2000 hostage ordeal in Kyrgyzstan where he pushed a captor off a cliff to escape, and later amputated his left thumb in an accident but continued to excel. Caldwell authored the memoir 'The Push: A Climber’s Journey of Endurance, Risk, and Going Beyond Limits' in 2017, chronicling his extraordinary life.
